Taxes And Fuel Charges Are Subject
To Change
The National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS) advises
all passengers that taxes imposed by Government Authorities and fuel
surcharges implemented by airlines are to be collected by Travel Agents
upon issuance of tickets. They are variable components and are subject
to change prior to issuance of tickets.
Please refer to the attached
letter issued by NATAS on this subject.

Increase In Fuel Surcharge
|
|
There will be a worldwide fuel surcharge increase from US$12 to
US$22 per sector. This fuel surcharge increase will apply to all
SQ/Interline tickets sold or reissued worldwide on/after 15 Nov 2004 for travel on all SQ sectors except as follows:
- Flight sectors to/from Japan (no fuel surcharge).
- US$4 per sector will apply for travel between Singapore and
Kuala Lumpur.
- US$10 per sector will apply for travel between SIN and South
East Asian destinations of Brunei, Bangkok, Manila, Penang, Denpasar,
Jakarta, Surabaya, Ho Chi Minh CIty and Hanoi.
This fuel surcharge is to be added to the existing US$5 Insurance
surcharge.
The GDS/CRS system will be updated to reflect the above fuel surcharges
and the applicable conditions shortly.

Changi Airport Check-In Time
|
|
Singapore Airlines remind all passengers to check-in at least two hours
before their scheduled flight departure timings. In the past few months,
they had cases of luggage not being loaded in time on flights due
to passengers checking in late.

|
|
Singapore Airlines has made available their Internet check-in service.
This service is available between 2 and 48 hours prior to flight departure
for all bookings and ticket types and currently allows you to do the
following:

- Perform seat changes after check-in
- Check-in cancellation
- Re-visit your check-in records for viewing, seat change and check
in cancellation (this is a premium service for registered customers
of Singapore Airlines only). Registered customers are PPS Club
members, KrisFlyer members and registered users of the Singapore
Airlines website.

USA Visa Waiver Program Update
|
|
Beginning 26 Oct 2004, officers from the US Department of Homeland
Security's (DHS) Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will
begin enforcing requirements that travellers applying for admission
under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) must be in possession of a machine-readable
passport.
Following procedures announced on 22 Oct, if, after 26 Oct 2004, a Visa Waiver Program national presents himself or herself for
admission to the United States without a machine-readable passport
or non-immigrant visa, a CBP officer is permitted to grant a one-time
exemption to admit the traveller to the United States. The traveller
will be issued a letter explaining the US entry requirements and
his or her passport will be annotated that a one-time exemption has
been granted.
When granting the exemption, CBP officers will notify the traveller
of the requirement for a machine-readable passport or that they can
obtain a non-immigrant visa for subsequent visits. If a traveller
fails to obtain a machine-readable passport or a non-immigrant visa
for subsequent visits, they may be refused entry under the VWP.

The Thailand Immigration Authorities require all passengers arriving
into Thailand to hold a valid travel document with at least six months'
validity. Failure to conform to this requirement will result in a
fine being imposed and deportation of passengers.
