New APAC Partners
|
|
FCm Travel Solutions has touched down in Europe, Middle East and Africa
following the official launch of our EMEA and global network at a
press conference in London on 21 June.
As an integral part of our global expansion strategy, the EMEA network
has been established through partnerships with more than 20 top-ranking
corporate travel management companies throughout the region. As the
launch vehicle for Europe, the UK is headed up by Alan Spence, Managing
Director of the former BritannicTravel. Under Alans outstanding leadership,
Britannic became one of the UKs most successful, independently-owned
TMCs, and was acquired by Flight Centre Limited in 2003.
Our brand was rolled out across the UK on 1 July, with this date also
shared by Belgium, Denmark and The Ukraine. Ireland will launch on
25 July, and will be followed by further launches across the region
after the European summer.
The EMEA network consolidates our presence in the global corporate
travel market and now gives us the ability to provide travel solutions
in more than 50 countries worldwide (as shown by the map below).
Our expansion is not only taking shape in EMEA, but also in the Asia-Pacific
region where we have just signed five new network Partners:

Main Feature Article
The Female Factor In Business Travel
After years of focus on the "business-MAN", a subtle change has been
taking place in the travel industry. These days the briefcase-toting
business traveller is just as likely to be female as male.
While some businesses have seen it coming and capitalised on it, a
surprising number are still being stung -or worse, left behind, merely
because they haven't noticed the not so subtle change of gender balance.
But they won't be able to miss it for much longer.
In the 1970s, women made up about one per cent of business travellers;
now, in the USA, they make up about 50 per cent, while in Australasia
it's more like 30 -40 per cent. And the numbers, as well as the frequency
and duration of the trips, continue to grow.
As the numbers of female business travellers rise, so too does the
realisation that they have a raft of needs that are quite different
to men. The fact that some operators in the travel industry have failed
to grasp this is evidenced in a number of recent surveys showing that
many women feel undervalued by hotels and airlines.
Personal safety and security is an area where men and women tend to
differ significantly. Women tend to bemore concerned about their safety
than men. In response to this, some hotels have introduced 'women-only
floors', such as the London Hilton, that is fully equipped with surveillance
cameras in the corridors, doors with heavy-duty locks and even more
powerful hair dryers. Another, in Denver, offers to accompany female
joggers if they don't feel safe on their own.
Female business travellers are undoubtedly creating an industry in
themselves. In the UK, the hotel booking service Expotel has created
a 'Women Aware' award forUK properties that have improved facilities
for women. And those willing to pay for it, in many major cities,
there's one to provide those extra touches specifically for women.
In Paris, the Hotel de Crillon offers a special women's package featuring
things like lighter meals via room service and glossy women's magazines
in the room. New York's Le Parker Meridien has a gym offering pre-natal
workouts and hypnotherapy for pregnant women. While in New Zealand,
Wellington lies home to The Mermaid, the city's first woman-only guesthouse,
designed as a boutique hotel for travelling women.
But for today's travel-savvy female executive, there is more to travel
than low fat meals and powerful hair dryers. They are just as interested
in aspects like productivity, business etiquette and minimising the
ill effects of travel on health as any male traveller. They are also
more interested in keeping safe.
Pointers For Women To Keep Safe
When staying in hotels, always check
the windowand door locks
If it's very late and you're alone,
ask security at the front desk to walk you to your room
Leave your good jewellery at home
- don't draw attention
Dress modestly in developing or religious
countries -find out dress codes that are appropriate for the country
you are visiting
Request a hotel room that is near
the lift
Always lock your door when driving
Use laminated business cards as luggage
tags toavoid publicising your home address
Never volunteer the fact you are travelling
alone
